Global Talent Stream
Are you an information technology, engineering or science professional?
The Global Talent Stream pilot program makes it easier for employers in Canada to hire you.
The Government of Canada created the Global Talent Stream for innovative firms who want to hire foreign nationals to fill an in-demand highly-skilled position on the following Global Talent Occupations List:
- Engineering managers
- Architecture and science managers
- Computer and information systems managers
- Computer engineers (except software engineers and designers)
- Mathematicians and statisticians
- Information systems analysts and consultants
- Database analysts and data administrators
- Software engineers and designers
- Computer programmers and interactive media developers
- Web designers and developers
- Information systems testing technicians
- Producer, technical, creative and artistic director and project manager – Visual effects and video game
- Digital media designers
Typically it can take between 3 to 4 months for an employer to secure a work permit for a foreign worker, if the position is approved by the government. The Global Talent Stream allows certain skilled workers to obtain a work permit within two weeks of applying.
The Global Talent Stream allows certain businesses to get around the bureaucratic backlog of the regular work permit process. This is part of a wider strategy to attract talented workers to Canada.
If you are in any one of the professions listed above and you are applying for jobs in Canada, speak to your prospective employer about using this programme to hire you.
