IRCC Grants 4,000 ITAs to Canadian Experience Class in Latest Express Entry Draw
The latest Canada Express Entry draw has issued a significant number of invitations to apply (ITAs) to hopeful candidates under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). A total of 4,000 individuals have been given the opportunity to apply for Canadian residency, with this draw noting a marginal increase in the required Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 509, compared to the previous 507 score in August.
September has been a promising month, marking the third draw and following two earlier selections. The previous draws targeted 911 Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) selectees and 1,000 candidates with strong French-language skills. The current CEC draw is notably the largest since July, which saw the invitation of 5,000 candidates.
To understand the framework of these draws, Express Entry is Canada’s efficient system for managing applications for three major economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the CEC. The system assigns points based on valued human capital factors like language proficiency, education, work experience, age, and specific occupations, to create a CRS score for each candidate. Those with the highest scores are usually extended an ITA.
Looking back at the year 2024’s Express Entry results shows a strategic pattern. IRCC has been honing in on candidates with certain profiles such as healthcare, STEM fields, skilled trades, transportation, agriculture and agri-food sectors, and, importantly, French language skills. Such focus areas were identified post discussions with relevant stakeholders and are aligned with filling the labor market demands and reaching certain demographic goals. For example, the emphasis on French prowess aims to support the growth of French-speaking communities outside Quebec.
Successful ITA recipients need to finalize their applications to IRCC within a 60-day window. Processing these comprehensive applications maintains a service standard of about six months for Express Entry.
The continued high volume of ITAs reflects Canada’s dedication to welcome skilled individuals through its Express Entry program, particularly in the key sectors outlined. With a slight uptick in the CRS score for this draw, applicants around the globe remain eager to seize the chance to establish their future in Canada.
